Creation Care Residents of the vanReken Creation Care community will commit to: - participation in community learning events once a month - active participation in discussions hosted by the faculty advisors and guest speakers - participation in floor social events at least twice a month - pursuing personal education and lifestyle choices congruent with sustainability and stewardship Honors Residents of the vanReken honors community will commit to: -attendance at floor meetings at least once a month -participation in the community's interdisciplinary course each semester (for 0/1 hour of credit) -participation in other floor learning and social events at least twice a month -normally, involvement in at least one honors course during the year (options include cluster courses, stand-alone honors courses, an honors DCM during interim, or an honors contract) Grassroots As a community of students, - We confess the brokenness of our world and the sin of racism which has infected our world on a personal, institutional and cultural level. - We confess that cultural superiority and internalized victimization have damaged our relationships with one another, creating social tensions. - We confess that we often submit to the world's definition of who we are while failing to "ungrasp" those identities in exchange for one rooted in the image of God.
